Cilfynydd (near Pontypridd) War Memorial

The Cilfynydd War Memorial is situated in the northern-end of this small village near Pontypridd.

This must be one of the most isolated war memorials in the South Wales Valleys. As you can see from the photographs, sheep graze around the memorial as it is virtually on the open mountain-side.

It is on the right hand side of the A470 Cardiff to Merthyr Road, OS Map Reference ST 080 920

The memorial is made of Portland Stone, and consists of three pillars joined by a hexagonal based and capstone.  The memorial is surrounded by railings.  Inscriptions / commemoration for World War I & II.
