Isaac George sculpture at Aberdare Park
A sculpture of a standing female figure carved from stone, dressed in classical robes. Left arm across chest with hand holding top of upturned long hammer which is resting n an anvil. Right arm flexed with hand under chin. Wheel on ground to right-hand rear of statue. Statue stands on a polished granite pedestal.Located in Aberdare Park, Trecynon, near Aberdare.
Commissioned by Isaac George, High Constable of Miskin Higher
The ‘Aberdare Leader’ of 22 April 1905 reported on the unveiling of a fountain made out of granite surmounted by a statue of Industry. The fountain had been presented by Isaac George as his term of office as High Constable was drawing to a close. The polished granite pedestal which supports the statue looks to be fairly recent.
