Key Dates

According to Alan Vernon Jones in Chapels of the Cynon Valley (Gomer, Llandysul, 2004) : “A Grade 2 Listed Building, a classical design; rendered and colour-washed. Entrance is crowned by an open pediment into which a bold semicircular recess is inserted and supported by pairs of Corinthian pilasters flanking the central ionic-arcaded windows. The ’cause’ commenced in 1856 by establishing a Sunday School in a building of the present Town Hall. Further meetings and services were held in 1867 in the vestry of Bethania Chapel [the derelict chapel beyond the Black Lion Hotel]. In the same year, Trinity was built by Simon Richards, Cardiff Street, Aberdare at a cost of £1,300.”
