Isaac George sculpture at Aberdare Park
A sculpture of a standing female figure carved from stone, dressed in classical robes. Left arm across chest with hand holding top of upturned long hammer which is resting n an anvil. Right arm flexed with hand under chin. Wheel on ground to right-hand rear of statue. Statue stands on a polished granite pedestal.
Located in Aberdare Park, Trecynon, near Aberdare.
Commissioned by Isaac George, High Constable of Miskin Higher
The ‘Aberdare Leader’ of 22 April 1905 reported on the unveiling of a fountain made out of granite surmounted by a statue of Industry. The fountain had been presented by Isaac George as his term of office as High Constable was drawing to a close. The polished granite pedestal which supports the statue looks to be fairly recent.
