I'm with you in Rockland
where we hug and kiss the United States under
our bedsheets the United States that coughs all
night and won't let us sleep
I'm with you in Rockland
where we wake up electrified out of the coma
by our own souls' airplanes roaring over the
roof they've come to drop angelic bombs the
hospital illuminates itself imaginary walls col-
lapse O skinny legions run outside O starry
spangled shock of mercy the eternal war is
here O victory forget your underwear we're
free
I'm with you in Rockland
in my dreams you walk dripping from a sea-
journey on the highway across America in tears
to the door of my cottage in the Western night
The friends and family of Dean, a much loved man from Morgan Street, Gadlys, Aberdare, came together today to bid their last farewell in a Service of Thanksgiving.
Dean died suddenly at only 35 years old.
Many, many people came to the Service at Llwydcoed Crematorium.
The Lord is my Shepherd and All Things Bright and Beautiful were chosen as hymns; and two of Dean’s favourite songs by Queen were played.

As you all know before 007 came along, I was completely happy being single, and had no intentions of becoming his bond girl. But, since being in a new relationship I have been doing a lot of thinking.
One night, after getting off the phone to my secret agent, I had a thought. “To be a couple, do you have to put your single self on a shelf?”.
In my opinion, for many women I think yes, but this is probably because they want to. Lot’s of women don’t like the idea of being single, and becoming a couple gives them a chance to finally shake off singledom.
However, for women like me who will always be singletons at heart, no! Just because I’m now in a relationship, why does everything have to change? Why will I have to change?
Duke Street in Aberdare is the scene of a shockingly beautiful piece of urban art. It is a large mural that forms a skirting around a building site being developed, behind Wilkinsons and nearby the Aberdare taxi rank.
It was completed in July 2008 and depicts a collection of bright, lovable looking characters like ‘Bryn the Builder’ (see photo).
Art work by B-boy Slammo of Elemental Force working with a local youth development team.

Ann Clwyd – Aberdare’s MP – has drawn attention to the plight of a local business suffering in the present economic downturn. In a Parliamentary debate she calls for support from Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling and recounts the example of one of her constituents who runs the last medium heavy engineering firm in the Valleys …
It’s only a matter of time before the police swoop on the publishers and confiscate all copies of Tracy’s Tits by Ponty author Amanda Weeks … so I thought I’d better blog a review here pretty sharp.
Tracy’s Tits is a collection of short stories by Amanda Weeks, a fresh and exciting new voice writing from Pontypridd, the second-most important South Wales Valleys town after Aberdare.
